The Wizard of Oz
Presented by Arnold High School Theatre
Panama City Beach, FL 7:30pm May 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 3:00pm on May 4th, 2014 Arnold High School theatre students will perform the stage musical The Wizard of Oz based on the Movie by the same name, by L. Frank Baum with music and lyrics by Harold Arlen and E. Y. Harburg, in the Helen Blackburn Arnold Auditorium on the campus of Arnold High School, 550 Alf Coleman Road, Panama City Beach, FL 32407. Donations accepted at the door will go to support this and future Arnold Theatre productions, but admission is free as the students strive to give the gift of live theatre to our entire community.
The famous, family friendly musical follows the story of Dorothy Gale who lives in Kansas and is sucked into the Land of Oz, where she befriends the infamous Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Lion. On her way to meet the Wizard and find a way home, Dorothy is tormented by the Wicked Witch of the West and her band of flying monkeys. Enjoy the evening out with your whole family as you remember the first time you encountered Oz and share in the delight of audience members of all ages who discover the story for the first time. Arnold’s student designs and choreography for the production will also prove to be a new and exciting approach to the show to keep you on your toes.
Arnold High School’s theatre department has a record of intensely strong performances, and has been recognized as one of the best high school theatre programs in the state. For this production they have teamed up with Arnold’s award winning band who will serve as the orchestra for the show. You won’t want to miss this live performance of a classic by this talented group of young people.
